Just imagine that when a customer walks into the store, browses through products and shelves, picks up items, inspects, considers the prices, chooses a product and takes it to the cash register to pay. Now if you want to sell your products online, then your site must be enabled for e-commerce. You just need to make your website as storefronts. Here are the following features you must have if you want to give your visitors an enjoyable shopping experience:

• You need to provide plenty of content and product description like sizes, dimensions, colors and comparisons with other similar products. It must allow the customer to choose a product, get a clear pricing and shipping costs on the product, complete the transaction and get an order number, and/or invoice confirmation via email. Allow your customer to choose a shipping method.
• You must tell the customer if the item is in stock or delivered against order. Ideally, you should have an email contact or live help if the customer has a question. Most importantly you must respond immediately! If you want to provide your own live chat and help desk services on your website, specialized softwares are available for purchase.
• Be sure your customer service links are large and clearly marked, so your client does not have to dig around to find information.
• Provide an ‘about us’ section or a section about your policies. If you have privacy statements and customer satisfaction policies, your customer will feel better about shopping in your store.
• You probably want to have customer quotes and references on the storefront page, as well, to let your prospective client know that others are happy with your service.
• Provide an FAQ with information about your return-back policies, guarantees, shipping prices and insurance charges if any.
• If you are so inclined, you can offer a print catalogue if the customer prefers to order one from your storefront and shop in the privacy of their homes.
• Do not annoy your customers by presenting products that are marked ‘sold’ or pages that say ‘under construction’ or ‘coming soon’.
• Do add new content frequently, so your returning customers will not be bored by seeing the same products they saw four months ago.
• If your site has got a date tag or has current references, be careful to change these references frequently so you don’t give the perception that nobody is attending or reading your site.

If your visitors find browsing your Website a pleasant and uncomplicated experience they will come back time and again. Repeat Visitors results in repeat purchases which will ultimately give you higher profits.

The banner usually has the most generic designs that are common to the blogs from a blogging company or service.

You can personalize this banner by having a graphic with the dimensions of the banner. You can also edit the graphic so that it will also include the title of your blog.

In this case, you can create your own graphic or you can purchase professional looking graphics online for less than $10.

It can also add to the design of your blog. You can choose a standard border or you can also create your own border which can be associated with your blog’s templates.

* Add a favicon

Don’t you think sites with icons on the address bar before the website’s URL are cool? Many people do. These favicons add a professional look to the URL. These easy to do using photo or graphic editing softwares.

* Check out blog templates, layouts, backgrounds, textures and skins from sites

There are sites that offer free blog templates, layouts, backgrounds, textures and skins. You can make use of these so your blog will not look generic like most of the blogs hosted by the service provider.

* Include RSS feeds

This is a cool way to inform people with newsreaders about your blog headlines. Tutorials on RSS feeds are available on the internet.

* Audio makes your blog more personal

Not only does audio personalizes the blog; it can also keep your visitors coming back. You can try having streaming radio stations, mp3 file or playlists loading with your blog.

There are many things to consider in avoiding many complications when you decide to have an opt-in list. This is not just a matter of sending your subscribers your promotional newsletters or catalogs.  While there are so many ways you can make people subscribe to your list, there are also some things you must do to avoid subscribers from wanting to get off from your list.

Aside from that, you also want to avoid any problems with the law and your internet service provider or ISP. There are now many laws and rules that are applied to help protect the privacy of the internet users from spamming and unwanted mails. With the popularity of the electronic mail as a medium for marketing because of the low cost, many company’s have seized the opportunity and have flooded many people’s e-mail accounts with promotional mail.

But, with an opt-in list, you avoid this annoyance because people subscribe to the list; they want to receive the newsletters and promotional materials. They have consented to being on the list by subscribing themselves, just don’t forget to put an unsubscribe feature everytime in your opt-in list so that you avoid any confusion. There may be times when an email account was provided when the real owner didn’t want to subscribe.

It is essential that you keep your list clean and manageable. Arrange it by using the many tools and technologies available for your opt-in list. Do not worry; your investment in this marketing strategy is well worth it with all the coverage you will get which will likely be converted into sales then to profit.

Keep yourself and your business out of trouble and potential run-ins with the law and the internet service providers. Keep your operation legit and clean. Your reputation as a legitimate businessman and a legitimate site depends on your being a straight and true marketing strategist.

Three things to avoid when emailing your list

1) Take notice of your unsuccessful sends.

These are the e-mails that bounce. Bounced emails, also known as undeliverable messages, are those messages that, for whatever reason, were not successfully received by the intended recipient.

There are bounces that happen or occur because the server was busy at that time but can still be delivered in another time. There are also bounces because the inbox of the recipient is full at that time. There are those bounce messages that are simply undeliverable ever. The reason for this is that it may be an invalid email address, a misspelled email address, or an email address that was abandoned and erased already.

Manage your list by putting markings on those that bounce. Erase an email account from your list so that you have an accurate statistics and records as to how many are actually receiving your mail. You may also want to check the spellings of your email addresses in your list. One common mistake is when an N instead of an M is placed in the .com area.

2) Always provide an unsubscribe feature in your site and an unsubscribe link in your mails.

When someone in your list files a request to be unsubscribed, always take that request seriously. If you don’t take them off your list and keep sending them your e-mails, you are now sending them spam mail.

When you are reported as a spammer, you and your business can get into a lot of trouble. You can be reported to the authorities and maybe blacklisted by many internet service providers. You will lose a lot of subscribers this way and many more in potential subscribers.

3) Do not provide pornographic or shocking and disturbing content in your newsletters.

It is hard to decipher the age of the recipient and many complaints may stem from these. Controversial issues also are to be avoided to not be branded by your subscribers. Stick to the nature of your site and business.

Always remember these tips in this article so that you can have a healthy relationship with your subscribers as well as be kept within the boundaries of what is allowed in sending mails to an opt-in list.

Banner advertising fell into disfavor in the past few years due to overuse and poor performance. Text links replaced them as the preferred ad-linking method in most cases, and this still holds true today. However, banners aren’t totally dead. In fact, they’re alive and well on quite a few high-traffic niche sites, sometimes at bargain basement prices.

Sites to target for banner advertising:

  • Online editions of local newspapers or your local news station’s website.
  • Websites of talk radio or other niche related radio programs.
  • Niche blogs or targeted, independent news sites
  • Any targeted website that makes use of banners while strictly limiting the amount of banners in place

Are Banners Advertising Making A Comeback?

In a sense: Yes, banners are making a comeback, but in a much more targeted fashion.

What killed the effectiveness of banners in the past:

1. Overuse:  Webmasters went “banner crazy” during the early days of Internet advertising. Visitors began ignoring banners due to overexposure and poor targeting on the part of advertisers.

2. Over-Reliance: Over-reliance on banners as the primary source of monetization for content-driven sites. The dot-com graveyard is littered with sites that attempted to drive revenue solely through banner advertising. The idea of free content was a noble one, but it didn’t hold up economically.

Today, the most effective banner advertising takes a cue from Google Adwords. In other words, it’s all about contextual advertising.

Banners targeted to the content and to the audience of a given website perform, from an ROI standpoint, on par with text-link advertising. But, again, you’ve got to target the placement.

Proven Performers:

Banner advertising works best when you follow the rules of niche marketing.

Niche products ->Niche Advertising ->Niche Web Sites.

Here’s a hot tip: some of the best sites for banner placement are radio program websites. In particular, the official websites for talk radio programs, especially on the AM frequencies.

Why?

Well, if you’ll tune in to a program on any given day, you’ll hear the reason. There are literally dozens of small businesses advertising on these programs. You’ll notice, too, that the nature of the products they advertise are the kind you’d expect to find in mail-order catalogs or other direct-marketing mediums:

  • Nutritional supplements
  • Investment courses
  • Specialty products

You’ll find the same types of products advertised on the program’s website as you do on-air. But that’s not the best part. The best part is that talk radio programs cull a select, pre-targeted audience. Let’s say you have an e-book related to automotive repair.  Where should you advertise?

Well, Car Talk (http://www.cartalk.com) would be a great place to start. This show has been on the air for years, and boasts a loyal audience - not in the thousands - but in the millions.

News Portals:

News portals and sites focused on alternative media are proving to be great investments for both banner and text-link advertising. Though these sites aren’t always laser-targeted from a content standpoint, the demographics of their readership makes them very attractive. Let’s look at what News Max (http://www.newsmax.com) has to say about their demographics:

  • Highly Educated: 63% have a college degree
  • Highly Affluent: 70% have a household income over $50,000
  • Loyal Readers: 81% visit the site daily
  • Online Spenders: 70% have purchased something online in the last year.

Sounds like any marketer’s dream come true, right?  But what makes this type of audience so responsive? Think about the visitor’s frame of mind for a moment. They’re open, curious and in “information gathering” mode. The news content itself may have them actively thinking about their own problems - and wondering where they might find a solution. Oh, and notice, too, that they’re already ‘awash’ in attention-grabbing headlines?

Use Your Own:

Right now there are thousands of sites which rely on auto-generated content (and auto generated advertising). Some of these sites are ‘blogs’ - featuring a mix of both auto-generated content and manually entered content. But there are also  sites created with ‘page generator’ programs, and these rely on content syndication to pull in fresh articles and fresh advertising. If you aren’t familiar with page generator software, here one example products to check out: http://www.trafficequalizer.com

Sites built with these types of programs tend to get search engines traffic if done right.

Most marketers build them for the sole purpose of monetizing the traffic that comes in. The primary method of earning revenue on these sites is Google Adsense. Adsense advertisements are sprinkled across every single page of targeted content.  If you own one of these types of sites, here’s an idea:

Why not place banner advertisements on select pages?  Take advantage of the opportunity to direct those visitors to one of your affiliate programs, where the payout is likely equal to or greater than the amount you earn per click with Adsense.

Now you might be thinking: why would I want to do this? I’m guaranteed to earn something when a visitor clicks away from my site on an Adsense link, but I’m not guaranteed anything if they click on an affiliate banner! This is true, but it also is going to depend on the niche you are targeting and what types of affiliate programs you’re involved in.

Let’s say you have a highly trafficked page that is performing well for you in terms of generating Adsense revenue. This is a sign that the mix of content and advertising is very highly targeted -  in other words, it’s optimized contextual advertising.

If you have a related affiliate program that meets these criteria:

  • High pay-out
  • Commission earned as ‘pay per lead’ (e.g. Visitor fills out a form or takes some other simple action)

Then I’d say it’s worth the risk of adding that banner to the page to see what type of response you get. You’ve got a much greater chance of nailing that commission since the visitor isn’t having to decide whether to buy anything.

As for programs that do require a purchase for you to earn a commission, I’d recommend placing banners for those products on your under-performing pages. In other words, check your stats and find out which pages get fair traffic but only so-so conversion on Adsense clicks. Slap your banners there and see what you get. You won’t be risking as much revenue this way, and you also up your chances of squeezing more revenue out of that page.
